Abstract
Allah’s
Beautiful Names (Asma’ Allah al-Ḥusnā) represent the highest truths of
existence. They are not merely labels but active forces, patterns,
and principles woven into the very structure of the universe. This
article examines the Majesty of Allah’s Names through:
- Classical
Arabic root analysis
- Quranic
verses with Arabic, transliteration, and translation
- Linguistic
depth from triliteral systems
- Reflections
in psychology, cosmology, and human conduct
The
goal is to recognize how the Divine Names illuminate the nature of Allah—Most
Majestic—and elevate the human soul to humility, wisdom, and honor.
1. Introduction: Why Allah’s Names
Are Majestic
The Qur’an
teaches that Allah’s Names are:
- Perfect
- Beautiful
- Complete
- Infinite in meaning
- Balanced between Majesty and
Mercy
The Names
reveal:
- Who Allah is
- How creation is sustained
- How humans connect to their
Creator
The Names
are described as a gateway to reverence:
Qur’an 17:110
Arabic:
قُلِ ادْعُوا اللّٰهَ أَوِ ادْعُوا الرَّحْمٰنَ
Transliteration:
Qul ad‘ū Allāha aw ad‘ū al-Raḥmāna
Translation:
“Call upon Allah or call upon The Ultimate Merciful…”
This
establishes a profound principle: calling upon Allah through His Names is
worship.
2. The Foundation: Allah’s Names Are
Perfect and Majestic
Qur’an 7:180
Arabic:
وَلِلّٰهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا
Transliteration:
Wa lillāhi al-asmā’u al-ḥusnā fa ad‘ūhu bihā
Translation:
“And to Allah belong the Ultimate Beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them.”
Key Principle
The
Majesty of Allah’s Names lies in the fact that each Name reflects a perfect
attribute without limitation, deficiency, or comparison.
3. The Linguistic Majesty: The Power
of Arabic Roots
Each
Divine Name arises from a root system that holds multiple layers of
meaning.
This is not possible in any other language.
Example 1: Al-Jalīlu (ٱلْجَلِيل) — The Ultimate Majestic
Root: ج ل ل
Meanings:
- greatness
- vastness
- magnificence
- that which overwhelms the mind
by its greatness
→ Majesty
is not only size; it is awe-inspiring greatness beyond human measure.
Example 2: Al-Maliku (ٱلْمَلِك) — The Ultimate King
Root: م ل ك
Meanings:
- ownership
- power to control
- ability to direct outcomes
- sovereignty
→ His
Majesty is absolute authority, unmatched by any created power.
Example 3: Al-Quddūsu (ٱلْقُدُّوس) — The Ultimate Perfect
Root: ق د س
Meanings:
- purity
- perfection
- being far above any
imperfection
→ Majesty
includes complete transcendence beyond weakness or flaw.
4. Qur’an 55:27 — The Perfect
Essence of Majesty
Arabic
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
Transliteration
Wa yabqā
wajhu rabbika zū al-jalāli wa al-ikrāmi
Translation
“And there
remains the Face of your Almighty Lord, full of Ultimate Majesty and Honor.”
This verse
establishes:
- Allah is eternal
- His Majesty is everlasting
- Every attribute of perfection
belongs to Him alone
The
pairing Al-Jalālu (majesty) and Al-ikrāmu
(honor/generosity) is unique—it shows the perfect balance of:
- Strength and gentleness
- Authority and mercy
- Grandeur and kindness
5. Qur’an 55:78 — The Majesty Present
in Allah’s Name Itself
Arabic
تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
Transliteration
Tabāraka
ism-u rabbika zī al-jalāli wa al-ikrāmi
Translation
“Blessed
is the Name of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honor.”
This verse
reveals something astonishing:
⚡ The
Name itself is blessed
⚡ The Name itself is majestic
⚡ Calling Allah by His Names brings barakah and rahamah
Thus,
contact with the Divine is established through:
- pronunciation
- remembrance
- invocation
- reflection
6. The Majesty of Divine Names in
Human Psychology
The Names
of Allah shape human character.
Examples:
Al-Raḥmānu
(The Ultimate Compassionate):
Teaches compassion and universal care.
Al-Ḥakīmu
(The Ultimate Wise):
Teaches patience, reflection, and thoughtful decisions.
Al-ʿAẓīmu
(The Ultimate Magnificent):
Teaches humility; human greatness is borrowed, not inherent.

(The Ultimate Self-Sufficient):
Teaches reliance on Allah alone.
These
Names uplift the human soul from:
- ego
- anger
- selfishness
- despair
- moral weakness
and
elevate it toward:
- mercy
- generosity
- wisdom
- courage
- purity
This is
the transformative majesty of the Divine Names.
7. The Majesty of Allah’s Names in
the Cosmos
The cosmos
runs on:
- exact mathematical laws
- calibrated constants
- cosmic expansion
- energy balance
- gravitational precision
Allah describes
this majesty:
Qur’an 25:2
وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيرًا
“He created everything and determined it with precise measure.”
Majesty is
expressed through:
- cosmic architecture
- quantum balance
- gravitational symmetry
- the fine-tuning of the universe
Every
system reflects a Divine Name.
Order → Al-Ḥakīmu
Mercy → Al-Raḥmānu
Power → Al-Qadīru
Origin → Al-Khāliqu
Sustenance → Al-Razzāqu
Balance → Al-Muqsiṭu
The
universe is a gallery of Allah’s Majesty.
8. Conclusion

Majesty of Allah’s Names is a three-dimensional reality:
1. Majestic in Language

The Names
uplift the heart and transform character.
